Biography
Lia Catalina Lopez is an Afro Colombian attorney from Sincelejo, Sucre practicing in Miami, Florida. She is graduate of Universidad de Cartagena law school in Colombia and received her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Florida International University College of Law. Lia works as Legal Counsel within the Commercial Legal team at FIFA with a focus on technology, digital and innovation. Before this, she worked as an Attorney Fellow at the FIU’s Office of the General Counsel and as Commercial Counsel for Wesco International Inc. (NYSE:WCC) where she regularly negotiated a wide range of complex commercial contracts.
Lia is active in the South Florida Legal community having served on the board of the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association, the Briefs Committee of the Cuban American Bar Association, and the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the Florida Bar. She is a proud graduate of the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Latina Commission Leadership Class of 2021 and a member of the Florida Bar’s Cybersecurity and Privacy Law Committee.
